Micromedex is Here!

Based on the results of our trial during the fall semester, ACC Library Services has purchased a subscription to Micromedex, a comprehensive drug database that should be useful for students enrolled in pharmacology, medical laboratory and pharmacy-related courses throughout the Health Sciences division. Micromedex can be found in the Articles & More section of the ACC LS website, through a catalog search or, soon, from the library subject guides created for your areas.

Micromedex features standard drug information (dosing, contraindications, adverse affects, mechanism of action, etc.), as well as side-by-side comparison with similar drugs, comparative efficacy reports, images for drug identification, and more. Of particular interest are the patient education CareNotes for drugs that are translated in over a dozen languages.

In addition to drug information, Micromedex searches related medical databases such as Lab Advisor for information on over 500 lab tests and Poisindex, which provides detailed toxicology information.

Online training modules are also available for this product. They may help you think of ways you could use Micromedex in your classes. A mobile version of Micromedex is also available, which might be useful in the clinical environment.

If you want to include a link to Micromedex for your course in Blackboard or on another website, use the following link:
